Give Kids the World – a dream coming true!

Give Kids the World is an amazing village in Kissimmee Florida, making dreams come true for kids with life-threatening illnesses.

We were here as guests, in January 2013. The week in this village, with daily VIP visits to the various Disney and Universal Studio parks, absolutely fulfilled a dream our son had during the year we more or less lived in the hospital. Before we left, we promised ourselves that we would come back one day. As volunteers!

“Give Kids the world” started with a little girl named Amy, a wish and a man’s desire to make a wish come true. Amy had leukemia and wished to visit Orlando’s theme parks. A hotel owner was asked if he could invite the girl and her family for a few nights’ hotel stay so that the family could visit the parks. Even when the hotel owner happily agreed to fulfill her wish and invited the whole family to come and stay in his hotel, all the travel arrangements took too long and her wish was never fulfilled. Amy passed away.

The hotel owner was Henri Landwirth, a Holocaust survivor who knew what is meant to be stolen of your childhood.

His desire to ensure that what happened to Amy would never have to happen again became a goal that Give Kids the World has met since 1986.

For a year ago, and six years since last time we were here, we finally made it back! As volunteers!
